„Conceptualization of a Modelling Method for Business Continuity Management“

Enterprises are continuously faced with more and more changes in the business environment, competition and disasters and hence, with fast altering business requirements which can rapidly constitute real threats for the enterprise (Investopedia 2018; Sienou et al. 2009; Karagiannis a. Kühn 2002). For that reason, enterprises must think about how they can deal with these challenges and that business continuity management can support them in this endeavour (Bentley et al. 2014). This thesis aims to deliver a concept of a modelling method that supports all components of business continuity management and to provide a first prototype of a userfriendly and intuitive tool of this conceptualization. Since business continuity management becomes more and more important for enterprises of any type, this modelling method covers a generic approach. It introduces a modelling method which contains seven different model types – a business process model, a working environment model, a partner model, a risk model, a recovery process model, a business continuity model and a risk matrix model – based on the identified requirements of business continuity management. Furthermore, this thesis includes a case study and an evaluation of the first prototype to show how intuitive the application of the modelling method is.
