20 Years Faculty | 50 Years Computer Science
In 2024, the Faculty of Computer Science celebrates two anniversaries: On one hand, the Faculty of Computer Science became a separate entity at the University of Vienna 20 years ago, and on the other hand, a teaching program in the field of computer science was established at the University of Vienna 50 years ago. Therefore, several events took place in the year 2024.

In 1974, a canonical teaching program for 'Introduction to Computer Science' was established at the University of Vienna, and in 2004, the Faculty of Computer Science was founded at the University of Vienna. In 2024, we celebrate the impressive developments in the discipline computer science at the University of Vienna over this half century. We also reflect on opportunities and challenges, in the present and in the future, especially given the rapid development of computer science, its significance, and its applications.
