Bachelor Teaching Education: Teaching Subject Computer Science
The Bachelor’s degree program Teacher Education in the Teaching Subject Computer Science is being phased out following the implementation of the curriculum for the a new curriculum for teacher education. Therefore, admission is no longer possible. Students who have already been admitted may switch to the new curriculum or continue their studies until the specified deadline.
Please note!
Any change to your admission status, such as switching your (second) teaching subject, will automatically result in a switch to the Digital Literacy and Computer Science teaching subject. If you wish to complete the expiring Computer Science teaching subject (i.e., do not want to switch to the Digital Literacy and Computer Science teaching subject), do not switch your second teaching subject!
Procedure for changing the other teaching subject while retaining the teaching subject Computer Science:
Complete the teaching subjects with which you wish to complete your teacher education programme in separate (teacher education or extension) programmes. Once the two desired teaching subjects and the ABG have been completed, please contact the SSC Computer Science via email. The SSC will arrange for the two teaching subjects to be combined, then carry out or arrange for the necessary recognitions, and allow you to complete your teacher education program with the two desired teaching subjects.
If the teaching subject Computer Science is completed by October 31, 2027, but the full teacher education programme is not, the ABG and/or the other teaching subject may be completed after October 31, 2027, and the teacher education programme may be completed with the teaching subject Computer Science even after October 31, 2027. In any case, this provision ends with the expiration of the current bachelor’s programme Teacher Education (240 ECTS) on March 31, 2031.
Important: To ensure that a change to the Digital Literacy and teaching subject Computer Science is not automatically implemented as of November 1, 2027, please inform the SSC Computer Science immediately after completing the teaching subject Computer Science that you intend to complete the teacher education programme with the teaching subject Computer Science after October 31, 2027, and do not wish to switch to the teaching subject Digital Literacy and Computer Science.

Transfer to the UF DGI while retaining the same teaching position
The request to switch should be submitted informally via email to the StudiesServiceCenter.
No application for recognition of previously completed exams is required following the switch. The recognition of exams must be processed by the SSC nonetheless, which may take several weeks.
Please note:
In the following cases, please explicitly indicate the desired recognitions when reporting your switch (informally in the email with which you report the switch):
- Exams taken in the compulsory elective module (UF INF 12), the elective module (UF INF 13), or the interest module
- Exams to be recognized for the elective area (UF DGI 11)
- Exams not listed in the “Äquivalenzverordnung” of November 10, 2023 (see “Curriculum” on the German version of this page)
Regarding the Recognition of Courses
Below is a general overview of the consequences of a programme change regarding courses and exams already completed. Only the regulations published in the University Gazette are legally binding (see “Curriculum” on the German version of this page).
The following courses/exams must generally be completed after switching to the teaching subject Digital Literacy and Computer Science, as they are not covered by the recognition of required courses from the teaching subject Computer Science:
- VO Introduction to media education (3 ECTS, UF DGI 01)
- LP Design Thinking (3 ECTS, UF DGI 05)
- VO/VU Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (3 ECTS, UF DGI 05)
- VU Information Security (3 ECTS, UF DGI 06)
- PS Applied Ethics and Technology Assessment (3 ECTS, UF DGI 08)
- VU Introduction to subject didactics (3 ECTS, UF DGI 09)
The following courses/exams will expire in whole or in part upon a transfer to the teaching subject Digital Literacy and Computer Science:
- VU Algorithms and Data Structures 1 (3 of 6 ECTS, UF INF 09)
- Credits exceeding 3 ECTS in the Network Technologies and Operating Systems module (3 of 6 ECTS, UF INF 11)
- Credits in the Elective Module (12 ECTS, UF INF 12), excluding VO/VU Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and VU Information Security
Expired credits from this list may be recognized for up to a total of 10 ECTS in the elective module (UF DGI 11) (and do not expire in this case).
The semester plan shown is not mandatory. It represents the recommended study path, as applied by the faculty in accordance with the allocation principle for courses with continuous assessment. Only curriculum documents published in the University Gazette are legally binding.
This recommendation already takes into account any dependencies between courses as well as the range of courses on offer in the winter or summer semester. It is assumed that your studies will begin in the winter semester.
