Changes in studies to remote learning

As issued by the responsible authority, the Rectorate has decided to take the following measures in the area of studying to help prevent the further spread of SARS CoV-2 infections:

From Wednesday, 11 March 2020 until Friday, 3 April 2020, no courses/exams with student attendance will take place at the University of Vienna. Teaching will instead take place in the form of remote learning (particularly via e-learning).

In practical terms, this means that the buildings at all university locations remain closed for teaching purposes and that no events involving external persons will take place. The SSCs and the Admission Office are not open for customer service. Electronic enquiries will, of course, be processed. The libraries, the University Sport Institute and the Language Centre of the University of Vienna remain closed as well.

The University of Vienna aims to ensure that students do not suffer any disadvantages in the continuation of their studies despite the special circumstances. The University has informed teachers/examiners/SSCs about the further procedure.

In practical terms, this means that the buildings at all university locations remain closed for teaching purposes and that no events involving external persons will take place. You will receive information regarding your courses/exams shortly. Please be patient.

This situation is also a challenge for the IT systems and the colleagues working in the Vienna University Computer Center (ZID): Please be patient if the increased access to mail servers, learning platforms and websites leads to temporary overloads. Please try again later if you experience any problems.

The temporary change to remote teaching serves to reduce the risk of infection by minimising possible contact. You will be informed in due time as soon as attendance in courses is required again. Therefore, please continue to check your student e-mail account regularly.

We will inform you directly by e-mail if the situation changes.
