INDENICA is co-funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme in the area Internet of Services, Software & Virtualisation (ICT-2009.1.2). The project started on October 1st, 2010 and will be running for 36 months.

INDENICA aims to provide a major contribution to the Future Internet by providing Virtual Service Platforms as a novel domain-specific approach to create service-based applications. In particular, this approach will ease the development of domain-specific, service-based applications by resolving the quality, interface, and technology fragmentation that can be observed in today’s service platforms.

The vision of INDENICA is to create an ecosystem of services and Virtual Service Platforms, on top of the current platform and infrastructure landscape. This would allow new infrastructure operators to move up the value chain in order to provide innovative service offerings on top of the Virtual Service Platforms and/or to create Virtual Service Platforms on top of existing infrastructure.

INDENICA’s vision of an ecosystem of services and Virtual Service Platforms would lower the barriers for smaller players like SME to easier enter markets and offer services and Virtual Service Platforms on top of existing infrastructure (open source or commercial).
